What's new at Made in the Shade Tanning Salons.

Since February 1995, Made in the Shade Tanning Salons has been one of the Lower Mainland's premier tanning salons . We're very happy with the way our salons and our ideas have been appreciated as evidenced by the continuous increase in our clientele. To all our clients, we thank you for your patronage and your encouragement to be the best.

To those of you we haven't met, or perhaps new residents in the area, we'd like you to see our studio and invite you to learn more about the growing trend of indoor tanning.

Everyone is thrilled with the new decor in the studio completed in the Spring and the fact that we have continued to provide so many amenities (toiletries, fresh towels, hot face clothes, spring water, cd players, etc.) We at Made in the Shade Tanning Salons believe that customer service, comfort, and cleanliness are so important in an indoor tanning salon. Albeit the primary objective is for us to create a great tan for you but a clean comfortable, relaxing, 20 minute respite from this busy world is also in order.

At Made In The Shade we have 3 levels of beds to suit every customers personal needs, all beds are cleaned from top to bottom with an approved germicide after every customers use. (the same one your dentist uses to clean the instruments he uses on your teeth)

The beds are dismantled every 30 days, fully sanitized; and re-assembled for the health and safety of our valued customers. Made In The Shade also changes it's tanning lamps every 500 hours whereas most of our competitors change lamps every 700-1000 hours. So with us you are always getting optimum results and .. the best tan money can buy!

Types of beds:

Regular bed - (24 lamp) - Customers of Made In The Shade use the regular bed to build a beautiful base tan, then after 4-6 sessions can move up to the extra bed, while others use the regular beds all the time. It is your choice, max. session length is 20 min's., however many customers will start out at 8-12 min's.

Extra bed - (24 lamp/1 face)* - With 38% stronger lamps then the regular bed, this bed is for customers with an established base tan. These beds are strong enough that many competitors refer to this bed as a "Super" bed. Also the added feature of a 400 watt facial tanner. The facial tanner is a different composition of UVA/UVA. The face is usually harder to tan due to being exposed to the elements and having 1/3 less pigment. *(Poco location extra bed =28 lamp/2 face)

Super bed - (34 lamp/3 face) - The lamps used in our Super beds are the strongest lamps made for lay-down beds (aside from VHR lamps used in standup tanners) and come with an 8.5 UV rating. These beds are for the seasoned tanning professionals and are not intended for beginners or people below a type 3 skin type. 1500 watts in 3 facial tanners provide peak results.

Sun capsule - (48 lamp standup tanner) - 160watts per lamp translates almost 8000 watts of combined tanning power delivering the most even tan in just 3 to 12 minutes. Most customers in the standup start at 4 minutes for 3 sessions and move up in 2 minute intervals; 3 sessions at each level until you reach your desired color or to a maximum of 12 minutes. Then once a week with a best quality lotion to maintain your tan year round. Some customers use the standup all the time for convenience; others use it every 4th or 5th time to get those hard to reach areas like underarms as well as pressure points that occur from lay down beds on the shoulder blades and buttocks. Although every tanning salon offers a 1 month unlimited package on standup tanners where you can tan once every 24 hours we at Made in the Shade recommend every second day because of the stand up lamps intensity to allow time for the skin to recover from UV light exposure and to avoid over exposure. With standup's you darken for up to 48 hours.

Airbrush Spray Tan - The latest tanning trend - UV free - Natural looking results

Our technician will spray a solution over your body. The solution is made of 2 ingredients; 1. bronzers and 2. self tanners. 1.The bronzers show up immediately letting out technician see where the solution has been sprayed for even results. 2. The sunless lotion (self tanner) - A sugar derivative, and FDA approved for nearly 15 years. This self tanner works on the same basis as if you were to cut an apple in half; as oxygen hits the white fruit of the apple it oxidizes and turns brown. This same process occurs on your skin in a period of approximately 6 hours after a session leaving you with a great natural looking color that will last about 7-10 days. (ask about out "no orange color guarantee").
